My one daughter, likes to dress for chicken-keeping...

We started raising backyard chickens two years ago. We currently have 10 hens (and 7 ducks and 6 turkeys). When the first eggs came everyone was so excited... you can read about that here. The chickens provide us with about 4 dz farm fresh eggs a week and have been a wonderful step on our journey to more sustainable living.

A colorful egg bowl of chicken, duck and turkey eggs...

One of the great things about blogging is the other nice bloggers (and chicken lovers) that you meet. My friend Diane has a very successful  facebook chicken page called The Lazy Chicken Coop. She is also an Etsy Shop owner and a fabulous seamstress.

Enter today's giveway for a chance to win one of her gorgeous aprons from her Etsy shop! AND a copy of the Pioneer Woman's new cookbook!

Ree Drummond's new cookbook offering has some great recipes to use up those eggs...I made both her cowboy and cowgirl quiches...they were delicious!

Cowgirl Quiche with prosciutto and leeks, going into the oven...

Our other family  favorites (so far) from the cookbook:  Breakfast Pizza, Chipotle Steak Salad, Pan Fried Spinach, Whiskey-Mustard Meatballs, and the Apple Dumplings.

Seriously, I haven't cooked something out of here yet that Mr. Darcy and the kids haven't swooned over.
The giveaway will run now till Friday night June 1st at 11pm AZ time with a winner announced Saturday June 2nd! We use rafflecopter for all our giveaways. You must live in the continental United States to enter and win. This contest is not affiliated with facebook in anyway. Information is for contest purposes only. If the rafflecopter box is not showing up, then click on the gray "read more" link below and that should pull it up so you can enter :-)

Blessings and good luck!

  7. As you know, I love to cook. Remember standing on a chair as a little girl just so I could help. I have been collecting cookbooks for several years and my husband swears he's the only person he knows that actually reads a cookbook like "normal" people read a novel. Thanks for the opportunity to win such a prize. Love your page!

  8. I found your blog through another where you commented you had a french inspired blog. I'm going to love your corner! The picture of your daughter is priceless. We'd all have a better performance if we'd delight in completing our chores with the belief they are important!

  13. Ooh, my apron has saved many a T shirt. But I only have one, and I often cook with my grand daughters. I like this one best for my yellow kitchen. http://www.etsy.com/listing/100355681/reversible-full-apron-chickens-with-3

  16. It was hard to choose a favorite. I love full aprons and living in CA, I have an affection for Poppy flowers. But I have to say the full apron with CATS is adorable and I think I like it best.

By the way, are the strings on these all one piece? Meaning, you can adjust it around the neck by pulling the strings at the waist. I can't tell from the pictures but those are my favorite kind.

Frugal or just too tight? I don't know!!

Gorgeous picture of your little chicken farmer! What a cutie!
They are just in the process of passing a law here in Edmonton, that will allow us to have a few chickens in our back yard. It's been so long. I won't know what to do!!!

  25. The egg/craft/garden or reversible apron in the green chicken print is so cute! [Also love the "chickens all over print" - just don't have the upper half to pull off that halter - 8^)] One winter night I was getting ready to leave a meeting, reached in my pocket for my gloves and pulled out an egg from that morning - oops! Lucky it made it through the day intact!
